Hi, everyone.

I'm new here, but there's nothing new about my fear. I've been afraid of clowns since I can remember. I'm 24 now, but the fear started years ago when I was too young to understand evil.

I see there is a user name that is "BuffytheClownSlayer". It was not my intention to jump on the bandwagon and be unoriginal, but since the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer came on the scene, everyone has called me the clown slayer.

I was almost arrested for my hatred of these demons. This is my story. (Short version. )

~~

The air had a slight chill to it that afternoon. I had forgotten to bring my jacket and with my short sleeves, I was shivering. I had the feeling that it was going to rain that day, but the weather man said the clouds would pass and the sun would shine. There would be no sun that day.

We were among the first people at the carnival. I was hungry for french fries. If there was one thing I could say about carnivals it was that they had good fries. I told my friends I was on a quest for fries, and we separated. I didn't realize then that separating from my friends, was a mistake.

I wrapped my arms around myself as I walked past the carnival rides seeking the fry cart. There was something sad about the rides, for they were running and yet there were only three or four people on them. There was no laughter in the air around me. Only the sounds of the rides and the wind.

I smiled as I reached the fry cart. By the time I reached my destination, there was a light drizzle. Damn weatherman. What did he know?

I bought some fries and went of to the side of the cart looking for ketchup. I can't eat my fries without ketchup.

I didn't see him coming up behind me. I was far more interested in my fries. I saw the shadow fall over me as if something large was behind me.
Ketchup bottle in hand I turned to see what was behind me. I thought it was going to be the father of a child who also wanted some ketchup. They only had one bottle, you see.

I turned and laid eyes on the demon. His hair was neon green with small red polkadots throughout. His colorful plaid jumpsuit had a giant red flower pinned on the left. His face was white, with large red lips painted over his own. That squeeky clown nose was large and red. Black and blue makeup outlined his eyes, and pink paint made circles on his cheeks. I glanced downward to see those horrifying red shoes. Those huge floppy shoes. White gloves covered those hands, and in his left there was a balloon animal.

I screamed tossing both the bottle of ketchup and the fries into the air. I threw myself against the fry cart, eyes widening as the beast came closer to me.

" Oh my God! Get this clown away from me!" I screamed, in shock.

He came closer to me, as if he thought I was playing a game with him. He reached out his hand, the right hand, since his left he held the animal.

"Hug me.." the clown said. Even his voice was evil. He came closer to me, and that's when it happen.

I drew up my right hand, balling it up into a fist. I was breathing hard and I could feel myself getting light headed. The ground around me was spinning as if I had just gotten off one of the rides. As he came closer, invading my personal space, I threw out my fist.

The punch connected with the clown's face, sending that squeeky red nose flying. By this time my friends were running towards us. The large clown dropped the baloon animal and both hands went to his nose.

My friends reached us, just as two members of security did. I was in hysterics when they came up on me. My eyes were wide and I was shaking looking at the clown who was wiping his nose with his white gloves. There was a small amount of blood that came out of his nostrils, not much, but it was obvious I got him good.

The security got on their walkies, I assumed it was to call the police perhaps? The clown shouted a few obsenties, and my friends started apologizing for me.

They explained that I was, and have always been afraid of clowns. They set up the whole thing with the clown coming up to me because they thought they could cure me of my phobia.

The clown understood and told the security guards it was okay. You see, my friends told the clown that I was afraid. He knew of my phobia. He agreed to try to help me "get over" my fear. He stepped into this knowing that he was my enemy.

I did not get arrested that day. The security guards escorted my friends and I to the gates and told us we would have to leave. I had no problem with that. I didn't want to return back to the carnival after that.

As we left the gates, I shivered. Not from the cold or from the light drizzle, but from the pink balloon animal that floated past me on the wind. It was the balloon animal that the clown was holding when he approached me. It looked to be a dog.

It was only a moments glance, but something about that balloon animal startled me. I could almost hear it growling at me. :o
