Hi everyone. First let me say, I hope by posting on this site, that I may learn something about myself and maybe even overcome my fear of (eek) clowns...LOL.

I guess I was about 7 years old when I first realized clowns scared the hell out of me. My brother was 10, and he had a Ronald McDonald '45 that he used to play to haunt me. When he realized it scared me, he'd play it just to freak me out. I remember hearing that demented voice and running up the stairs, crying to my bedroom. I can still hear my brother's laughter behind me, as I raced up the steps.

That was the beginning of my fears. I don't like anything with a mask over it's face, not even characters at amusement parks. I'm not very fond of Halloween, as everyone's face is covered with a mask. If it looks demented, I freak.

Well, that's my story...sad but true. You'd think at the age of 40 I would have outgrown or gotten over this fear. But alas, it remains as strong today as it was when I was 7.

MacDonalds are evil for all sorts of reasons.
Well, CSM2D, you have come to the right place. I still have panic attacks when I see a clown, but in the few weeks I have been on this forum I am improving in getting over my coulrophobia. I couldn't hear the word "clown" without freaking until recently. It's a slow process, but we'll all get there. You're not alone, my friend! :)

Eeeek! Masks! I know what you mean. Especialy those life-like latex masks. I lived with my grandparents and every year, my grandfather would put up a halloween display. He would make a bunch of scarecrow dummies, put scary latex masks on them, and then pose them outside on our front lawn. The mask that scared me the most as a child kind of looked like a demented clown. It had a green face, red lips, and long stringy orange hair. My grandfather put the darn thing in our living room. Every time I passed by that room, I would get shivers and chills and feel the hair stand up on my neck.
One night, the thing actualy leaned over and winked at me! Sure you say,"oh that's just a figment of your imagination." or, " you were just seeing things". Say all you want, I know what I saw!

I guess that's one of the reasons why I don't like clowns. I mean, after all, all that face paint looks like a mask, doesn't it?

Clowns and mimes are grease-painted, degenerate scum who want nothing more than to scare innocent people.
