Hello, good persons.
My name dosenīt metter. But itīs still cool. Becuse my last name is Sharpe. Like that show with that guy from "Lords of the Rings". And the real Sharpes have a lot of money. I donīt.
ANYWAY, itīs my first messege, and this must be clear: I donīt hate clowns. Yeah, Iīm an anti-clown, but I donīt hate them. Just donīt like them. I wonīt shoot one, but I WOULD like to hit their heads with a large metal bar.

AND, I readed IT (My first book in Argentine. I lived before it in Israel.), and I donīt understand Pennywise. Does he tries to show that clowns are evil, or does he just act like one of them?
I wonīt say too much becuse me time is short, but say something about the topic. Itīs a good one.

*** SPOILER ALERT - DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN STEPHEN KING'S "IT" ***

Welcome, or as you might prefer, IA IA CTHULHU FHTHAGN!

Hmm, kind of an interesting question. I did not read IT but saw the movie a few times.

To me, Pennywise itself was a "psychic sending" or illusion, its avatar or manifestation, created by the Creature in the Sewer, to interact and lure children in, and feed off their fear. I'm of the opinion that IT adapted its form to the already dark undercurrent of a horrific clown in order to provide a tempting unthreatening lure, then to gain the most horror and fear from the victims by suddenly becoming a horrific monster.

I think IT was either an alien or a creature from folklore, of the Faery Realm, which would explain its susceptibility to silver. It was also a creature of the mind, obviously, sorta like Freddy.

i read the book and in one scene the kids smoke themselves to see a vision(like indians) they saw the coming of IT in a metor millions of years ago...he DID try to get the most fear out of people and then eat them. One kid was eaten by the swamp thing, but mostly clowns...Why?: IT knew that if it could take a form of a clown(trusted by little kids) he could get close then turn on them. He got the clown form in the 1800s Pennywise The Dancing Clown. But the losers club(the seven kids) all encounter IT but lived. when they came back as adults Stan slit his wrists while in the tub(out of fear)eddie was killed by it too. IT also taunts all of the seven until IT was killed. IT remains to be one of my favortie novels.
