What do your friends think of your coulrophobia?

I am kind of intrigued as to what your friends make of your coulrophobia.
I am spurred to ask as one of my closest friends (who herself is aviophobic) last night remarked that she "simply can't understand" what I am scared of. She was actually quite nasty about it, so I am feeling a bit put out today. :(
I am sure a lot of people think I am making it all up... But it's not exactly a normal thing to be phobic about is it? I mean, JWGacy (shudder) aside, clowns don't actually k*ll you (unlike planes, snakes, etc).

i've given up trying to discuss it with anyone but you guys and my family. they probably have uncles and aunts that are clowns or something because they take it so personal! :x it just makes me mad! (off topic) i used to be a full blown arachnophobe *sp* and would scream and almost faint while running 50mph in the opposite direction. but then i went camping for a month strait, and had them crawling in my mouth while bees were stinging me lol.. and i guess i toughened up a bit 8)

Haha, yeah, I'm not too fond of spiders or bees either. But at least bees make honey. Bzzzz. :D And don't wear floppy shoes. Hehe.

ive only tried talking to two of my friends about my coulrophobia, one of them actually burst out laughing and teased me. the other friend is also coulrophobic. Aside from him, i can only relate to ne of u. :) at least im not completely alone

I only have one friend who is afraid of clowns. Everyone else just thinks im weird. :(

See, I know plenty of people that aren't crazy about clowns, but no-one seems to understand why I'm terrified of clowns. Maybe it is just one of those things you don't "get" unless it's relevant to you and your experience. I was just wondering if your pals were sympathetic or not.

I dont even talk people about it anymore,they just dont understand..They are all like whats the big deal about clowns..They dont see them for what they really are..They dont realize that clowns are spawns of satan...

Actually, all of my friends know about my coulrophobia. And it's funny because it just developed in the last 5 years or so. I used to love the circus and everything when I was little. I dunno, I was evil or something. My boyfriend completely understands how I feel!! He has the same feeling for dolls. Most folks pick on me, but not much. They know I'm pretty sensitive about it.

my friends and family think is funny and they think im lying about it for attention. im 21 and have a kid and im scared of clowns and this really sucks.i cant even look at pictures of clowns. i was chased by a clown at a haunted forest once. :o

:o I am so glad I found this website. I thought I was alone in this fear. Its not only clowns that scare, but any adult in costume, Santa, the Easter bunny, etc. Pictures and movies of clowns dont scare me, but get one in person and I'm running the other way. One time, at a family gathering for christmas, a cousins boyfriend dressed up as santa for the younger kids, and I immediatly got up and went outside. Everyone thinks its funny , and they try and force me to stay in the same room, even my fiance. We were at a resturant after we first started dating, almost done with out meal when 5 clowns came skipping in . I told him it was time to go and he started laughing, and tried to call the clowns over. I started crying and walked out. He still thinks its funny. I have no idea why I', afraid of them , but it is a very real fear.

I have had a few friends tease me. My one friend even started emailing me pictures of clowns!!! I hate clowns. They are evil. They are always playing mean jokes. They are always the killer. My friend had a Tupperware party at her mother-in-laws. I got the grand tour of the condo. There was a clown room!!! OMG it freaked me out. The lady's husband had a shrine circus shirt on with a clown. This room had those clown figurines, clown posters, little clown dolls. I would seriously DIE if I had to sleep in that room. I just looked away and didn't mention it to my friend. She would have laughed at me. And people who like clowns.. I don't trust them either. I know this sounds silly but I am serious. I do NOT like clowns at all. I hate the white faced mimes. Someone hiding behind a mask. It just scares me. I know its silly. I just hate clowns. My boyfriend will cover my eyes when there is a clown. I went to Vegas. OMG.. Circus Circus.. there is a HUGE clown. I couldn't even look at it. I don't tell most people. They think I'm a freak. :o

my friends think its funny... :cry: they put a large picture of a clown on the inside of my door in my dorm room once... :shock: when i woke up, i didnt have my contacts in, so i didnt see it till i was three inches from it...

None of my friends know because they would always make fun of me :( But someone actually told me that her and her friend are freaked of clowns. But thats all I heard it from I once had a clown Face to face I almost had a heart attack literally But everywhere IO went *gulp* he was there. I never want to see him or any other clown again.
