How's everyone doing? How many clowns have we killed today?

If you haven't seen a thread I posted in the Anti-Clown Discussion or whatever forum on this site....I have a question for everyone. Its intent is innocent, I assure you.

What started your fear of clowns?

If you want to say IT or Poltergeist...eh, well read the other thread I posted, because I don't remember exact words, but basically I watched IT laughing at how corny it was, and I haven't seen Poltergeist but I've seen lots of pictures, and they look corny, too. But again, that's just my personal opinion.

I'm just extremely curious as to what started everyone's caulrophobia..

:-D

Mine started ... at a very young age, before Poltergeist and It were maybe even written (I really think both are fine movies, myself). I recall having a dream about my dad dying, and I associate a clown's face with that dream, I don't know why; I estimate I was in my mid-single digits in age so maybe I had recently seen a clown and it scared me or something - but shortly, my dad did die, so I've had a pretty negative association of clowns ever since - plus I'm also a fairly private, anxiety-prone person who avoids the limelight.

Hi sorry, I started posting and can't stop now...

But what you said is so strange as apparently fear of clowns can be to do with parenting (I just posted that in another thread) and my fear of clowns started AFTER my dad died. Hmm we need to do a survey to see when other peoples fear started!

I saw a show on TV when I apparently was too young and it contained a couple of extremely loud Italian clowns. It freaked me out. My fear has over the years grown into annoyance with and finally dislike and hatred of clowns.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, computer's been in the shop. -Rubbing hands together- :???:

To twaml:
Ouch...how is it that a dream can ruin anything for anyone? The brain fascinates me...heh anyway.

That would be awesome. I get too curious and had to ask, yanno?

Not to be mean with laughter but LMAO why is it always older family members? Gotta pick on we younger folk...

C'mon man, I was three years old or something, I don't remember what show it was. Anyway if I DID know, I wouldn't say it to save other people from traumatic experiences :-)

LMAO good point.

EXACTLY! And the freaks who collect them should be rounded up and shot!

GASP! You'd shoot me? *pouts*

Haha, yeah it's kinda sad, but I was going nuts without my computer, so I know what you mean! LoL!
And, well...not dolls like the doll in the Saw movies, or Poltergeist, or anything like that. Little miniatures. All I'm sayin'.....They don't really scare me...I never figured out why. I can see how the phobia is growing with any angle you show, but I personally am not scared of them. *Shrugs* But I don't bash those who are.

We'll merely lock you in a closet while a team of trained professionals in radiation suits and gas masks disposes of the vile collection your house apparently harbours :-D

Well, I was liking it up until the disposing of my life's collection of nicknacks. I have more dragons and faeries than clowns, honestly. And the clowns I have are either small or of the Insane Clown Posse. :-?

Their diligence in disposing of the dreaded clowns is a compliment not an insult - this means they view you as an ally, not the enemy - they are just helping

I regret to say that i have a stash of &%$* clownie dolls that i cannot throw away as they have been misguidedly given to me by loved ones. Many ihc members have been thru this

I hide them all on a pretty shelf in the bathroom and close the door at night.

At least - virtually - realize they may be relegating your clownie $%^ to - the basement? the attic? ahiding door?

It's a good idea, don't fight it

Well Jynxess, I guess that as long as they're hidden in your house on a very high shelf - to prevent childhood traumas (I know what I'm talking about, trust me) - and stashed behind cool, compensatory stuff such as dragons or faeries (you're definitely on the right track there), then it's... tollerable (I'll go cancel the squad) :-).
Anyway, to each his own of course. I like collecting old, stuffy books and I bet there's some people out there that have a terrible adversity to anything written (bibliophobics?). They would probably love to see my books, maybe even my house and possibly even me go up in flames, but I hope that, like me, they're not serious about it...

*twitches his eye involuntarily*

Yes, I must say, before I learned that RB was coulrophobic, I did give her one or two.... and YES! they are in her downstairs bathroom (The guest bathroom) on a shelf and YES the door is closed at almost ALL TIMES. :)

I happen to collect the clown stuff, however, not usually the gooey white faced ones, they scare me as well.

We need a clown amnesty, send any clown related items directly to Kobuzzz's house (who apparently knows how to deal with such things) and no further questions will be asked.

Ahh, I see. Well, since you put it that way...if I had a basement or an attic, I would. I have mine on a nice entertainment center in my room, on a shelf below the television. Even if it had doors, I probably wouldn't hide them in there unless someone with caulrephobia came over. Then I'd ask if they wanted to wait in the hall or downstairs while I put them away.

Yeah, I don't like the gooey showered-in-paint clowns, either.

I hope I don't meet anyone with bibliophobia or whatever...because I like collecting books, too. Mine are mostly vampire novels and such; Steven King, Anne Rice, R.L. Stein's Fear Street and Fear Park and Fear Anything...horror, psychological thriller, I love them. *Shruggage*

Sure, for a modest sum, bring them on! Provided they are in an adequately sealed, fully opaque container and clearly marked "content: Clown". Also, have them at my place before the start of October, because then my house is getting torn down. Then the people taking out all the asbestos can in one go dispose of all hazerdous materials.

By the way, I don't really collect books... Honestly, I don't even like them that much. Google has disclosed the extend of the bibliophobic realm to me and it's... impressive.
