I have a terrible fear of clowns. When I was in the middle school ('86), I would walk to the elementary school to get my little sister. We were walking home one day and we noticed a van driving behind us. We didn't think much about it until it continued to follow us. It got closer and we realized it was a man dressed up like a clown. Later that evening, on the news..... a man was picked up by the police after trying to kidnap a child around my neighborhood. He was driving a white van, dressed up as a clown.
When I got married---- we went to Las Vegas for our honeymoon, and as a joke, my husband reserved our room at Circus Circus! He was trying to get me to face my fears, I guess. Well while checking into our hotel....a clown was near me and when I turned to look at him......... I broke out into a sweat, started hyperventilating, blacked out, and hit my face right on the counter in front of the Customer Service Rep.
They absolutely frighten me and it's sad.... I can't even take my children to the circus because these creepy people make me uncomfortable.

Oh my god, that's a horrible story. I'm sorry :( And spending your honeymoon surrounded by your phobia should have made for an interesting experience... Rather you than me! Don't worry, this is a good way to start facing your fears.

I would have had the marriage anulled right then and there if my husband would have made me stay at Circus Circus. Your storey of what happened when you were in middle school is terrifying and only reinforces what we all know--CLOWNS ARE EVIL--
